The first zemis

I'm in the process of putting together the first syllabi for the zemis this year. The Year 2 and Year 3 zemis in the first semester will concentrate on presentation and research respectively.

For Year 2, the main aim will be to get everyone comfortable with presenting in a variety of situations and formats.

For Year 3, we will concentrate more on information search, organisation, and writing. By the end of this year, part of the work we do will be applicable to a graduation dissertation, so it has a double-value.

Both years will learn how to quickly find, absorb and then organise data and information. You will also get plenty of opportunity to undertake critical analysis, and also to add a bit of personal creativity.

The biggest difference with last year is that this year we will have a greater emphasis on use of the web, both for information retrieval and for personal marketing. Blogging and other tools are useful and common use for students outside Japan, so they should be the same here too.
